The Alumni association since its inception has been active in organizing, alumni reunions , invited talks/workshop by alumni.

  • Promote interaction and networking among the alumni of the institute through a vibrant forum
  • Making possible the alumni associating with alma –mater by facilitating the alumni to achieve their professional goal

ALUMNI ACTIVITIES 16-17 :

WENAMITAA in association with The Computer Society of India, NMAMIT Student Branch, organized a workshop on “User Centered Design” on the 28th of January,2017 at Shambhavi hall, NMAMIT.

Mr.Vigneshwar Poojar(Alumnus EC10), Interaction designer in in [24]7Ltd, Bengaluru and also executive member, Be-NMAMIT. This event was as an initiative from Be-NMAMIT, the Alumni chapter of Bangalore.

The workshop focused on user Centered design, creation of persona, wireframes. Hand on session, wherein the participants had to form a team of four to ideate an App, create personas for the App and present it before everyone. The workshop witnessed the active participation of 40 students from the departments of CSE, ISE and MCA .

IEI Student’s Chapter organized a Technical Talk –“Vehicle to vehicle communication and Safety”, on 21st October 2016, at 2.30 pm at Shambhavi seminar hall, NMAMIT. Mr. Oswald Mendonca, Senior Architect, BU Automobile – BL Car,NXP Semiconductor. Faculty coordinator IEI Student’s chapter, Prof. Padmavathi, Office bearers and student members, M.Tech students were present.

The 3rd AGM of wenamitaa, was held on 24th Sept 16. Dr. Muralidhar, President wenamitaa, presented activities of alumni in the campus for the year 15-16 and put forth events for the year 16-17. Mr. Venkatesh Kamath, Treasurer wenamitaa, presented the financial details of the Association and the expenditure for the year 15-16. The budget for the year 16-17 was presented. Various resolutions pertaining to effective functioning of the association put forward were unanimously passed by the corum.

Project on Video Streaming is offered to the selected students’of CS,IS and MCA by Mr. Ajeet Koru , an alumnus of second batch of BE(91CS). Live streaming on project was held in PG and Research lab, CSE department ,on 21st Sept 16 at 8.30 am, when Mr. Ajeet briefed the students.

Sandesh B. Suvarna (Alumnus 2010,CS) Master’s in’ Engineering Management’ at SJCE, Mysore, worked in IBM for two years. In two years he won 10 awards of eminence, excellence and great telecom mind etc. Has his own start up,’ Thappad ‘ on the lines of change.org. An Evangelist for the Indian Market for Ionic Framework of the USA. He has the honour of creating an app in 4 mts the variant of which in IBM was sold at 1.4 million dollars!!

Sandesh was chief guest for CSI NMAMIT chapter activities 16-17 inaugural on 29th Aug at Shambhavi. He conducted a workshop on how to make an app in 4 minutes.

Dr. Saritha Shetty(Alumna EC2000), Addressed students of NMAMIT on Cryptography and Security, on 22nd Aug at 2.30 pm at Sambhram. She is presently working as Senior Inventor, IBM, UK and has 13 patents to her credit.

Mechanical Engineering students interested in getting into Marine Engineering were given inputs on “Career in Merchant Navy” by Sudhakar Shetty (Alumnus 87 ME), Chief Engineer, Merchant Navy on 20th August 16, 11 am, at Sambhram, NMAMIT, Nitte. In his talk he elaborated on Marine Engineering Course, sailing experience, security and responsibilities at various levels. This talk enabled the students to understand the nuances of career in Merchant Navy.

On 16th Aug Mr. Sandesh Rai(presidend Be-NMAMIT) and Keerthan GM (treasurer Be-NMAMIT) office bearers of Be-NMAMIT, Bengaluru visited Nitte and addressed Mechanical and MCA students at NMAMIT about Be-NMAMIT involvement in shaping students through various activities. Student volunteers from each branch are interviewed to select a few who are going to be the link between NMAMIT and Alumni at Bengaluru. He addressed alumni faculty members.

Be-NMAMIT( the Benguluru chapter of wenamitaa) was inaugurated on 26th June 2016, at Rotary Club Hall, Lavelle Road, Shanthala Nagar, Bengaluru at 11 PM by Shri. Vinaya Hegde, President, Nitte Education Trust, who was the chief guest of the function.
Dr. Sharada G Prabhu, Professor, Alumni aAffairs, NMAMIT welcomed the gathering then introduced the office bearers of wenamitaa. Dr. Muralidhar, President, Wenamitaa, with the help of Mr. Venkatesh Kamath, Treasurer wenamitaa, started the election process for various posts of office bearers for BE – NMAMIT Chapter for the year 2016-17 &2017-18.

Wenamitaa, Alumni Association of NMAMIT, in its ongoing efforts to encourage students to take up projects that help society has identified the deserving projects for funding for the year 2015-16. A project grant distribution ceremony was organized on 2nd May 2016. Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar, Principal NMAMIT, Nitte distributed the grant awards to the recipients. Dr. G. Sharada Prabhu, Prof. (Alumni Affairs) and Head of Physics department, welcomed the gathering and explained the motto and initiatives of the alumni association behind this project grant. A day’ work shop on VLSI – An overview on broad categories and career opportunities was arranged by Dept. of EC on 25th January 2016 for the benefit of EC students. The resource persons were alumni from 2011 EC batch. The talk covered the wide area of VLSI that is Basics of VLSI. Issues faced in VLSI, followed by career opportunities in the area of VLSI and the requirements to get into VLSI field.

Rakesh K K, An alumnus,Rakesh worked in Sankalp semiconductor for just over 2 years on analog circuit verification and later joined IIT Bombay to pursue masters degree in microelectronics. With his expertise in the field of analog and RF VLSI for more than 4.5 years, Currently he working on RF design in biomedical team under Prof. Maryam Shojaei., IIT-M.

    Dubai meet 2016 was attended by Alumni of NMAMIT , NGSM Institute of pharmaceutical sciences and Nitte USHA institute of Nursing Sciences and members of their family . Alumni and family members presented various cultural programs in the meet. The meet ended late night with Dinner and music show by professional troupe.

  • A talk on ‘Higher Education Abroad’ was conducted by the CSI Student branch, NMAM Institute of Technology, in association with Wenamitaa, the alumni association of NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte on the 9th of October 2015 in Sambhram Auditorium. Mr. Brian D’Souza (CS’04) , the guest speaker addressed 3rdCSE students.
    His interaction was mainly on his experience in the IT Industry and his study abroad, his study in NMAMIT and his experiences in life.

    • Mr. Lakshmeesha Upadhyaya (Alumnus BTE’09), Erasmus Mundus Doctoral Fellow, University of Montepellier2, France delivered a lecture on “Higher Studies in Europe with Erasmus and Marie Curie Scholarships” on 5th August 2015 at NMAMIT Nitte. This talk was organized by Alumni cell of Biotechnology department in association with Wenamitaa, Alumni association of NMAMIT for the benefit of final year students of all branches of engineering. He gave complete details on the admission procedures, selection, and lifestyle in Europe and shared his experiences at European Union. Around 50 students attended the programme.

    • 25 Years of graduation of the 1st Batch (86-90) was celebrated on 1st August 2015, at NMAMIT at sowparnika,with23 alumni attending. Mr. Thomas Saldanaha initiated to make this meet happen. While self introducing, alumni recalled their college days & the hardship they underwent during 86-90. They promised their contribution through fund, incubation centre & internship. This was followed by lunch & dance by kalanjali dance group of NMAMIT. (photos in gallery).

    • ALUMNI ACTIVITIES 14-15 :

    • Mr. P K Raghavendra (99 IP at NMAMIT, ME and MBA from RMIT, Melbourne, Pursuing doctoral programme in the area of Health Informatics from Central Queenland University, Melbourne) Lead Architect for Fujitsu, Melbourne. Australia, visited NMAMIT after 15 years. During his visit he addressed I M.Tech(Mech) students on the 29th of March on “Cloud Computing, big data and continuing education” – related to mechanical engineering. Another technical session was held for the MTech students of Computer Science and Engineering and Network , on the 9th of April 2015 at 10 AM . The programs were coordinated by Dr. Sashikanth Karinka, coordinator M.Tech programmes and Prof. Roshan Fernandes, Associate Professor, Dept of CSE.

      Prasad Shetty Mech 99 was here after a gap of 13 years. He addressed Mechanical Engg. Students on IT for Mech .

      The E&C department association ELECSA organized talks by alumni

      Global Alumni Meet was organized on the 15th of Aug 2014 at Sadananda, NMAMIT, Nitte. The meet started with Flag hoisting, sapling planting and getting together of alumni.The Meet was organized jointly by ‘wenamitaa’(NMAMIT Association) and its chapter in the Middle East (meNMAMIT). Apart from teaching, nonteaching and around 120 student volunteers, 140 Alumni from various places of the country, the Middle East and the US registered for the Meet. The Alumni expressed their happiness for getting an opportunity to visit Nitte after a long gap.

      • Designing and launching a website – Entrusted to me with the help of Ananth prabhu (2014 CSE) and Subramanya V (2015 ISE) which is in the completion stage
      • Sending invitations and greetings to the alumni through mail and facebook
      • Inviting the Alumni to college functions as guests and arranging for lectures or interaction with junior students when Alumni visit our Institution
      • The high lights are More than 20 alumni visited their alma-mater as judges for various events at the time of Technidharshan and Anandotsava celebrations.
      • Mr. Gopi Krishnan (1993, E&C), Infosys Associate Vice President, Head Mangalore development centre, was the chief guest for the inaugural of Technidharshan on 28th oct 2012.
      • Mr. Abhijin (02,Mech), Thashildar, udupi taluk, was the chief guest for the college sports day function on 6th Feb, 2013.
      • Mr. Sanjeeth Shetty (96, E&C), CEO of companies at UK, was the guest for the college day celebrations. He Instituted awards for,’Outstanding Student from E&C branch’, (citation, Cash Prize of RS 10,000 and a corporate gift hamper), and Outstanding NMAMITian (citation, Cash Prize of RS 15,000 and a corporate gift hamper),

      • Mr. Ayush Verma (CS 2011, associate Solutions architect, Akamai) Addressed 3rd years on 22nd feb 5th 2013.
      • Thyagaraja Marate (E&C 2005, Project Leader – GNSS Technology Accord Software & Systems Pvt. Ltd. -Accord software) will be pursuing doctoral studies in Geomatics Engg. At University of Calgary addressed the final E&C and spoke on ‘Basics of Global Navigation Satellite Systems’ on the 16th of feb2013.
      • On the 12th of March 2013 Wing Commander Rajiv Kakar( 94 E&C) Visited the Institution and was overwhelmed to see the changes that have taken place in Nitte.
